DaVinci Center Creations Concert

Bringing music to life with beautifully orchestrated  Creations Concerts

The amazing Sphere Ensemble, string orchestra, arranges and  performs original songs of nearly 50 students, ages 5 to adult. The DaVinci Center Jazz faculty  join as arrangers/performers in this one-of-a-kind concert.  These original songs reflect the core of what students are learning at DaVinci Center:   Firstly music is a means of expressing and communicating what’s inside of them and that improvising/composing is natural for ALL human beings. This concert realizes the epic impact of musical creation, unleashed, when composers of all ages and all levels join together to create fine music, from the heart.

The Creations Concerts feature compositions by the students from the Davinci Center for the Musical Arts, as realized and performed by the Sphere Ensemble.

Some students have composed solo pieces and many students have co-composed songs in their monthly Harmony Classes.

Here is an inspiring letter from one of the Harmony Class teachers, Khabu.

Greetings students & families from Harmony Class –

I was inspired to share this with you after preparing our group composition, Cisco Fazgo, for rehearsal this weekend. I’m deeply impressed by the scope and beauty in the composition, and fellow DaVinci instructor, Ms Elena was completely blown away as we played through it. I described our process and the vital input from each one of you. No matter how many or which classes you participated, your unique individual artistic influence was unmistakable. Some were obvious and tangible, such as a particular melodic phrase or bass figure. Other elements like a subtle mood or a suggestion to take the emerging piece in one direction over another is more ambiguous to name. Regardless, it’s clear to me that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU made a significant contribution, AND that each contribution is woven together into the collective fabric from the whole group.

It will be moving to bear witness to the completion of the artistic cycle, the live debut performance of Cisco Fazgo for our wonderful DaVinci community and beyond. It is here that the artistic process comes full circle to be a force of inspiration and change that we can all hear/feel/see/think and bring back into each of our own lives in relation to the greater whole. Being a ‘composer’ is applicable to every endeavor in our lives, from the most primal (having children) to the most practical (designing a new medical technology that would save and improve the quality of life for humanity). Each of us is the author of our own lives. And yet we don’t exist independently in our own bubble, we’re all co-composing this great experiment, Life, in an intricate web that’s often hard to say where one thread ends and another begins; Exactly like our group composition!

It will be a great occasion to experience the full cycle in person, in completion of the time and efforts you’ve made in learning music, practicing your instrument, and attending Harmony Class. Looking forward to seeing you there!

In Gratitude,
