DaVinci Center Studio Policies 2011-2012
Tuition & Holidays
Tuition is due at the first lesson of each month for the ensuing month. With 52 weeks in the year, parents pay for 48 lesson per year with 4 Holiday weeks off; 1 week during the July 4th week, 1 week during the Thanksgiving week, and 2 weeks for the Christmas/New Year’s weeks. The 48 weeks are divided into 12 equal monthly payments, so even during a Holiday month, you will still pay for 4 lessons per month. Tuition is paid for monthly, through automatic credit card payments or checks sent into the office by the 10th of each month, with a $10 late fee applying after the 10th of the month.
Performance Class (informal recital held on a either a Saturday or Sunday)
Piano Playtime students are exempt from this but can certainly participate if desired. Performance Class takes the place of the lesson for the week following the Performance Class, generally once per quarter. All students are expected to attend the Performance Class as it is an integral part of the DaVinci Center’s curriculum. The week following the Performance Class may be used by the instructors to hold make-up classes only if the student needs a make-up lesson. Missing the Performance Class does NOT qualify for a needed make-up. The Performance Classes are usually 1 hour long. Sign up sheets are in the studio 2-3 weeks ahead so parents can plan for the most convenient Performance Class times for their children. There is usually a “snack sign-up” sheet accompanying the Performance Class sign-up for families who would like to bring a treat to the special class.
Make-up lessons
Missed lessons can be made up at an agreed upon time as soon as possible before or after the planned or unexpected absence. Make-up lessons will only be offered for reasons of illness, planned family vacations, or unexpected emergencies. Only one make-up lesson will be scheduled per missed lesson. If you miss your scheduled make-up lesson, you will forfeit the lesson. Only in the case of extended absences planned ahead will there be any adjustment in tuition. Otherwise, credits are not given. If no make-up lesson can be scheduled around the time of the student’s absence, there can be a make-up lesson scheduled during the week of the recital. Only one make-up lesson per quarter please. If an Instructor cancels due to illness or unexpected emergencies, a make-up class will be scheduled or an extension of time may be added to the regular scheduled lesson to make-up for the absence.
