The human brain is comprised of two halves or hemispheres, right and left. The Left Brain focuses on speech, writing,
computing, logic, and critical thinking. The Right Brain focuses on the ability to describe spatial correlations, mimicking,
imaging types of reasoning, artistic and musical capabilities. The Abacus computing process involves
integrated thinking and motor functions of both hemispheres of the brain. These processes require instantaneous memorization
on one part and mentally moving the 'virtual' abacus beads on the other part. This helps to stimulate ones
logical thinking processes, memorization, ability to be attentive, and spatial imagination, all of which are required to complete
the task. Abacus mental math, or calculation, requires this coordinated effort from both sides of the brain,
making Abacus learning a wonderful tool in unleashing the intellectual brain power in our children.
